American Historical Association. Resolution to Oppose Scholasticide in Gaza. [Maar zie updates eind januari – VETO]
“The American Historical Association’s top elected body has shot down a resolution opposing scholasticide in Gaza, after members who attended its annual convention approved the statement early this month by a 428-to-88 margin.
The association’s elected council, which has 16 voting members, could have accepted the resolution or sent it to the organization’s roughly 10,450 members for a vote. Instead, the council rejected it as the official position of the association.”

Update 28 januari 2025. “Genocide Denial in Holocaust Studies: Scholar Raz Segal on Gaza & 80 Years After Auschwitz Liberation”, Amy Goodman in gesprek met Raz Segal, Democray Now! (https://www.democracynow.org/2025/1/28/raz_segal)
AMY GOODMAN: Professor, I wanted to just end by asking you about what just happened at the American Historical Association. I saw you a few weeks ago here in New York at the Hilton when members of the group voted overwhelmingly, 428 to 88, to oppose scholasticide in Gaza. If you can talk about what happened next? I was talking to a past president of the American Historical Association. They said, “Oh, I’m sure they’re going to have to go along with that vote, because it was so overwhelming.” But they vetoed it. We have 20 seconds.
RAZ SEGAL: Yeah, I mean, the AHA Council, unfortunately, vetoed this vote. Of course, this is, you know, an insistence on defending Israel at all costs. I think that what we’re seeing, of course, is U.S. institutions standing behind the defense of Israel, because if we come to terms with what Israel is doing, which is Israeli settler colonialism, this then means that the settler-colonialism genie is out of the bottle. We have to talk also about settler colonialism here in the U.S. and settler colonialism…

Do not deny. Do not Blink(en). Just deflect!
.
De hypocriete inconsistentie wordt mede ingegeven door misarabisme / moslimhaat.
.
Terecht is dan ook het volgende commentaar geciteerd door TRTWorld : “Palestine-based journalist Muhammad Shehada said every war crime that Blinken mentioned in his statement is mirrored by Israel in besieged Gaza with brazen complicity of America and its leadership. «Literally every single one of the crimes you cites to conclude a genocide is happening in Sudan are all being committed by Israel in Gaza; the very genocide YOU have been proudly funding, arming & covering up,» Shehada said.” (https://www.trtworld.com/…/activists-cite-us-role-in…).
.
.
Blinken heeft zich op die gelegenheid op 19 december 2024 ook al nadrukkelijk uitgesproken tegen de straffeloosheid: “As I said a year ago when determining that both the SAF and the RSF had committed war crimes – and that the RSF had committed crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing, specifically designating the atrocities against the Masalit described by the sultan as ethnic cleansing – the United States will use every tool, including further determinations and sanctions, to prevent abuses and hold perpetrators accountable. We encourage other partners to implement similar sanctions – bilaterally, multilaterally – on individuals, on organizations whose actions worsen the conflict.” (ibidem).
